Learn to manage basic scuba diving equipment repairs and adjustments. Understand routine care and maintenance procedures and how dive gear works.

DESCRIPTION

Don’t miss a dive due to minor issues with your scuba diving equipment. Whether it’s a missing o-ring, wetsuit tear or a broken fin strap, the PADI Equipment Specialist course teaches you to manage basic repairs and adjustments. You’ll also learn more about how your gear works, making you more comfortable with it and better prepared to take care of your investment.

If you’re at least 10 years old and certified as a PADI (Junior) Scuba Diver or higher, you can enroll in the Equipment Specialist course.

ACADEMIC

You’ll learn about routine care and maintenance procedures as well as scuba equipment storage recommendations. Your instructor will show you how to overcome some common equipment problems and offer equipment configuration suggestions. It is not an equipment repair course. Training relative to the repairing and overhauling of equipment, except for very minor servicing, is not to be part of the curriculum.

    • The theory, principles and operation of diving equipment
    • routine, recommended care and maintenance procedures, and equipment storage
    • common problems with equipment and recommended professional maintenance procedures
    • demonstration of repair procedures
    • suggestions for comfortable equipment configurations
    • An introduction to new equipment

The entire course is comprised of roughly 6 hrs of knowledge development sessions and demonstrations, and does not cover any open water dives as a part of the course.

EQUIPMENT

Your PADI Instructor may ask you to bring your to class your personnel equipment, but will also have examples of other dive gear for you to work with during training.
